It is unreal in how cheap and affordable this place is. The quality of the food here is phenomenal and especially the fruit, it is hard to compete. The "nuestra cocina" area is large and their food is also good.. Not the best mexican food I've ever had, but the one thing I do reccomend is the Chorizo Breakfast Burrito. It's the right size to fill you up just right and it's very well cooked. Simple and delicious. The only down side is that they take soooo freking long for your food. Plan on staying there waiting for about 15 minutes.. if you're the only person there waiting..

GREAT restaurant!! LOVE the carne asada tacos and the chicken quesadillas!! The service is great and timely! Highly recommend, tacos are also sold in 8 count so it's a great last minute dinner stop!! Homemade flour and corn tortillas made fresh in store!!

For anyone who has doubted the spectrum of diversity in Salt Lake City (myself included), be proven wrong at Rancho Market. The selection here is incredible from all over the world, not just Mexico or Latin America. Rare chocolates, halal, exotic fruits, and fresh cuts of meat are all found here. It's pretty amazing and when some of these fruits like strawberries and guavas are in season, you'll get the best deal without a doubt. The bakery and restaurant reign supreme with authentic tastes similar to south of the border. They even have champurrado in the winter! So take it from me and all the rave reviews before and after mine: Racho Market is really the best!

The go to spot for street taco fixin's. Carne Asada is our favorite. Excellent tamales, possibly the best in town. Their Tres Leches cake (get it with strawberries, not the colored frosting) is fantastic as is the flan (try the sliced flan for a different texture). Food would rate a 5 but the service gets a 3.

Love this place. This is the place to go for produce. Prices are great and there is always something on sale. Also check out the flap meat for making your own tacos. Sooooo good.

I am done with Rancho Market. I used to love this place because of the great produce prices and often hard to find items, however, I can no longer abide by the horrible way they treat their customers. I hate to say it but the customer service is not just bad, it is borderline racist. My family and I used to go to their restaurant to pick up take out all the time. The restaurant takes for ever! expect to wait about an hour for your food, unless you are Hispanic that is. I, as well as other friends and family, have noticed that they will work on and complete other orders placed by Hispanics long before they are bothered with ours. This got so bad we stopped going to the restaurant all together about 6 months ago. I would still go to the grocery store for the a fore mentioned items. Today I went to buy a few items and was waiting in a large line of 5 people (which is usually the case) I was right in the middle, 2 carts in front of me and 2 behind. A new cashier walked up to the Hispanic gentleman behind me and in Spanish told him she could help him on a new lane. I spoke up politely, yet sarcastically saying "oh you go ahead, you were clearly hear first," the cashier didn't ever look at me. she then waved the Hispanic at the end of the line to come to the new line as well. Unfortunately this is not an isolated incidence either it is about the 3rd time I have been in line there and they offer to help Hispanics first, this is just the first time I spoke up about it, and it will be the last time I ever shop there. If only 0 stars were an option

I spent part of my holiday making tomatillo + roasted pasilla salsa, and that's a great way to spend a holiday. I'm sure you can find great produce in any city or grocery store, but the price (especially for produce) in a store like this can't be beat. Also it reminds me of living in Southern California. #nostalgia Not much more to add to a review of this store--if you live in Millcreek / Sugarhouse, it should be your go-to for produce and basically all other good types of food.

Great selection of everything you need to whip up delicious Latin food. They have everything, they also make tortillas on premisses. I am always super bummed I can't speak Spanish when I go there, I would feel way cooler.

I line Rancho Market. You've got to take it for what it is and don't walk in expecting a Smiths or Harmons. Great place to buy dried chilies and produce. I've also always been a fan of the seasoned meat I can get there.

Sister Holland is a fan of the tortas at the restaurant inside this ethnic mercado. I could eat an entire tres leeches cake. Love the produce and the carneceria.

I give Rancho "5 stars" because they have an incredible produce section with a large variety of hard-to-find items, a killer bakery, and an awesome meat section. Also, their prices cannot be beat. Expect to see a variety of age groups and ethnicities - I think a common misconception is that it is a Latino market, but really - it's just a great place with killer deals. I am making this my #1 shopping market destination because it doesn't hurt the pocketbook and provides the type of variety that I crave. Way to go Rancho!

Our family loves shopping at Rancho. The kids always beg for a churro from the bakery and we almost never leave the store without some kind of pan dulce. The butcher counter is really good and they have a huge variety of meats that people from different latin countries would love. We like to get pre marinated carne asada and chicken fajita meat, also pre marinated. The flavors are incredible. The butcher counter also has salvadoran chorizo which is sometimes hard to find and is completely different than mexican chorizo. The restaurant is really good too but a little pricey especially since you can buy everything the exact same and go home and cool it yourself for a few bucks cheaper. But when you're in a hurry or don't feel like cooking there you go.

I've been a fan of Rancho Markets so I was extremely happy to move in so close to this location. As others have mentioned, the produce isn't always the best quality because some of it is past its prime but you can get some killer deals on great stuff. I'm currently loving the crazy low prices of limes, jalapenos, tomatoes and avocados. Really, where else can you get good avocados 3-4 for $0.99? The bakery is pretty killer too. They have such a large variety of different pastries and desserts so there is something for everyone. Unless you can't eat gluten maybe... I have only eaten at the restaurant once but I wasn't super impressed with what I got. The tamales had decent flavor but they were extra greasy. I'd like to go again and try different dishes because I hear great things!

This is a great new space for the ever-expanding Rancho franchise. This store is exactly what you'd expect: an old Albertson's which has now been redecorated in what can only be described as Bright Pastels With Florescent Accents (circa 1993). There are a lot of things I love about this place. The bakery case offers a wide selection of pastries. They have their own tortilleria, for heaven's sake. And they have an in-store restaurant that serves up pretty tasty dishes. Get a bunch of friends together and get the molcajete. Prices throughout the store are definitely on the low-end, and if you're looking for specialty Hispanic foods or meat cuts, then this is your place. I've never seen a place with so many different cuts of milanesa, which is definitely a good thing. The produce is especially cheap, but you're going to have to be especially picky since it seems like they might keep their fruits and veggies a little past their prime.

I can't say enough good things about this Rancho. I am so thrilled it's so close to my house and thought for sure I'd be the duchess in no time, but Brendan K beat me to it by a bazillion checkins in the short time it's been open. Biggest bakery counter ever!!! Try one of everything (this may take you quite some time) and nothing will disappoint. From the fabulous breads to pan dulce and tres leches cakes, they have it all. They even had a huge slab on salvadoran quesadilla. My kids' faves are the custard filled churros. I absolutely love the bolillo rolls. We make panes con pavo (i keep mine vegetarian with just cabbage and veggies) with then but they would work for just about anything. I could just tear into them and eat them plain. The produce section is also gargantuan and though selection can be a little spotty, the fruits and veggies are so inexpensive you will feel like you are stealing from them. I haven't tried the prepared foods in the restaurant area, but if they are half as tasty as other Rancho Market's you'll be a happy camper. Huge variety of hispanic products and normal american grocery items, too. Don't be intimidated at all. The staff is very friendly and the deals are incredible.

Come for the great deals on produce. Stay for the Mexican food, especially the tacos.

If you've been too scared to head into this "off format" grocery store, I suggest you overcome your fears and head into Rancho Market. They have so much fo offer -- cheap, fresh produce; all kinds of cuts of meat (especially for that adventurous... think beef tongue, heart, kidneys...); excellent hot food in a little cafe near the front; and fresh, soft tortillas (both flour and corn). On top of those gems, the place is essentially a full-service grocery store, with plenty of your 'typical' grocery items -- cereal, condiments, paper products, weak beer, etc. The prices are really great, though. We've frequently gotten a week's worth of produce for under $10. If nothing else, it's a go-to in the Winter or if you otherwise can't get to the farmers' market.

I LOVE this market. The produce section is a delight! Everyone is friendly and helpful. This is THE place to shop for groceries in SLC. Move over Whole Foods. I am now a confirmed Rancho Market shopper.

After one visit this place seems decent, but for me, there is still a lot of work to do. It seems that Rancho wants to step up a gear and move into the mainstream grocery space, while retaining some of its unique qualities from their smaller operations. With all that said I have to review the store in line with who they are obviously gunning for - the likes of Fresh Market, Harmons et al. The best bits as others have said: * Excellent meat counter featuring a truly diverse selection. For example, not only do they serve tripe, but they sell three different varieties from standard to honeycomb. You will find tongue alongside ear and prepared meats like marinated fajita strips or carne asada. BBQ season would be fun to shop for here. * Good selection of veggies, with some excellent low prices * Wonderfully huge bakery with a million treats. It will take you weeks to sample everything * Some unique grocery selections drawing on items from South America, which in many cases come with great prices too, if you are willing to take the leap and try something other than a recognized brand name. I picked up 32oz of decent enough hot sauce the other day for about a buck. * Staff seem friendly and eager to explain anything for newbies * Its a pleasant store, nice and spacious, well lit and laid out. They've got everything you need, in a store order of magnitudes larger than their previous outings. * With the huge former Fresh Market premises comes the attached massive parking lot - parking is a breeze unlike some of their other more chaotic locations. The not so great: * Some of those cheap veggies on display were in really bad shape and shouldn't have been put out to sell. Lack of quality control and complacency so early is worrying to me. * The seafood section on my visit was massively underwhelming. It had hardly any stock to speak of, and what was in stock looked not so great. * You have to buy your bakery items separate from your groceries, so you end up walking around with a bag full of baked goods while pushing your trolley if you do things in the wrong order. Note to self, buy baked stuff last and then check out your trolley. Still frustrating though. * They've clearly called up associated foods or a similar wholesaler to stock up the store with a complete range of goods, such as dairy, frozen goods, beer, cereal what have you - so a family can do a complete shop here. You're going to find brand names like budwesier, marie calendars, purex, and floridas natural just fine. However the prices on some of these items were higher than I would expect to see at a Fresh Market or similar. In some cases questionably higher. I hope they can at least make some of these routine items more in line with other stores so I can do a more complete shop here. * I dont think they accept a full range of credit cards and I found it difficult to divine what they did actually take. Still not sure, but thats my fault for not asking I guess. I haven't tried their onsite restaurant either which I aim to, as by all accounts its a winner. Overall, pretty good, just not great, yet - and I am sure they will be tweaking prices and products over the months as they get to grips with an operation so many degrees bigger.

I'm from Los Angeles and this is the first time I've felt at home in years. Lots of brown faces, big family's, REAL HAND MADE TORTILLAS. Cashier didn't even try to speak English. Food is average but not greasy and the price is good.

They are here to take our jobs so I am going to take their groceries and make their recipes. I have long been a fan of the Rancho Markets and once upon a time I had to drive to the damnable west side to get them. You heard me West siders I hate driving out there your traffic sucks. Anyway over the last few years Rancho has been moving east and I thank them for it. The service here is phenomenal and whenever they see the fat white walking around with that lost look on my face they stop and ask if they can hep me find something. This is amazing courtesy and service. The prices are great and the selection is fantastic. I get a ton of groceries here (it really is a ton, I shop by the pound) and they are always delicious. They have the best assortment of chili's in the valley, and the meat department is awesome......mmmm chorizo.

I was able to get a lot of the stuff here that I am able to get at similar markets in San Diego so that's a plus. Only thing I could not find was Mexican candy. Maybe I didn't look hard enough and I'll check again next time I go but I did find the isle with the candy and yes they had offs name brand candy but not the kinds from Mexico I am use to. Besides that it was similar to the ones from San Diego and it helped a bit with the occasional home sickness I get from missing my friends. This place is going to be a regular stop for me.

The prices are cheap but the customer service is terrible. I'm pretty big on customer service. It can make or break an experience for me. Every time I go here I tell myself I'm never going back. The cashiers ignore me every time I'm in line paying and chat, in Spanish, to the other employees. I've been tempted a time are two to wave my hand in front of their faces and tell them to pay attention to the person giving them cash! It's a little confusing to find things and I don't find the selection all that great but the store is clean and looks really nice.

The one star is for the terrible service. I was there few times and what I got is that this is where Marxian have the platform to present all the prejudice they have against anyone..well, that is not Mexican, Everyone here is Mexican.. and if you ask someone for help, you better speak the language, or you'd be left waiting for a while for someone who does.

Finally it's open! I have eagerly been awaiting this locations opening like a child waits for Santa. So wrap me up a street taco, slap a bow on it and wish me a Merry Christmas (or what ever holiday you celebrate)! I'm in heaven! I love Rancho Markets from the bottom of my heart to the tip of my toes. The food is excellent, and the staff is great. With this winning combination you can't go wrong. To speak to this new location let's start by saying WOW! ...and I promise when you walk in the door that will be the first thought. This place is huge in comparison to the other locations. Now you take a step back from the "Shock and Awe" and the first thing you notice is a massive array of produce and color! Immediately to your right is a massive seating area adorned with ivy covered arch ways. This is such a welcoming area you can't help but walk in and admire it! You immediately see the staff in the back making fresh tortillas, and serving patrons. As you travel the store you will find a crazy assortment of authentic Mexican goods, and surprisingly a wide variety of normal grocery store items. You will not miss the worlds longest meat counter! I mean it is massive!!! They have gone out of their way to incorporate both ethnic and domestic varieties. On the far east wall you will find a mural toting of their local authenticity! This to me was the icing on the cake! Not only do I love supporting local businesses, but this local business is thriving, and it's thanks to us, please help me and all those that love this place and come give it a try. When you get here make sure you try the street tacos. I prefer the asada, however the chicken is great, and the carnitas is to die for. The rest of the menu is out of this world as well but for me I can't stop with the tacos! It's a must have! P.S. I'll be the guy in the seating area with my yelp sunglasses enjoying my street tacos, and I'm pretty sure Jill H. will be running up and down the MASSIVE candy isle! Can't wait to see you all there!

Amazing produce section. Huge selection, high quality fruits and vegetables at truly amazing prices. This store has allowed my family to start eating much healthier and save tons of money- its a God-send in times like these. The little Mexican cafe is delicious too.

Ok lets just say the best bakery in Utah! You want tres leches cake, omg get it here, yummy!!!! And the deli where you can order a street taco or whatever else you want. Try the ceviche, so yummy too and the prices, holy tamale, cheap! Although very Hispanic, this place is like a regular grocery store, they have everything. The produce seems cheaper and very fresh. The place is very clean too and plenty of parking.

I love this grocery store. Handmade tortillas! Good and cheap produce. Their staff is wonderfully friendly, always willing to help a gringo like me out. I love cooking Mexican food and this is the best place to get ingredients. Can't beat it.

Love the new large location on 900 e and 3300 s. This store has absolute best prices on fresh produce in all of the Salt Lake Valley. If you are not receiving there weekly ad/mailer. Go to there website: ranchomarkets.com to see just how affordable fresh produce (as well as dry goods and the meats) can be. Also a very attentive staff while checking out or getting meat at the counter.

First off, you're going to want to get yourself to the restaurant portion of this place. Then you'll ask for the #1 with a pint of beans AND a pint of rice. We easily feed our family of 2 adults and 2 small children 2 or 3 meals out of this combination. It's a great deal! Now, while you're waiting for your food (they'll call your #) wander over to the bakery- go alllllll the way to the end and pick up a few sprinkle cookies (the micro nonpareils) and "pan de queso" which is like cheesecake but better. It's like if coffee cake and cheesecake had offspring. Amazing with coffee! Now your hot food is probably ready. I'd say the only major pain about this place is that you have to pay separately at each little section. Other than that, Im not sure where else in the valley you could get a pinata for your kids birthday (check the ceiling by the door), hot food for said party AND beer/drinks for it. One stop shopping!
